Spamming & Attacks

ADVAIA has received an increased number of reports and support tickets from clients receiving more spam and spoofing emails. We have determined that the major cause is due to clients email addresses previously getting on spam lists and over time, the numbers of spams increase and will increase even more as long as that email address is in use. The most common ways of getting on spam lists are:

  1. Your old web site contained actual email address links that were spidered or harvested from your site.
(ADVAIA does not use these methods on any of our sites)
  2. You or your staff have subscribed to a service that sells their email address to others.
  3. You or your staff are receiving emails that contain multiple email addresses as recipients and some of those recipients are innocently forwarding those emails whereby you or your staffs email address is then harvested.

Since these issues are not directly caused by ADVAIA, we do not provide free technical support for accounts that have a high volume of spam. ADVAIA has also been logging many support tickets and calls when the mail server is delaying incoming messages for several hours. All ADVAIA clients are on shared servers which means that they, along with other ADVAIA clients, are using SmarterMail simultaneously. When one of our clients receives large amounts of incoming spam that is not being filtered, they are causing other accounts to experience delays in receiving their emails.

If ADVAIA determines that your account's greylisting is turned off and that no filters are applied, we will notify you that a Postini filter is required. We will allow a reasonable amount of time for you to secure that service. During this period of time ADVAIA will have no other choice but to reinstate your greylisting to insure that other clients are not affected by that high volume of incoming spam to your account.

It is our goal at ADVAIA to provide safe and secure hosting and services to you and to all our clients. It is unfortunate that there are those who have nothing better to do with their time than to cause havoc across the Internet through Spam and Spoofing tactics. Please be assured that ADVAIA has taken every step to insure that due to these increased attacks that we are doing everything we can to reduce the threat to all clients. We thank you for your understanding and continued loyalty to ADVAIA, Inc.
